La Sombra made a successful V1 defense of the IWGP Intercontinental Title at Arena Mexico last night, defeating Volador Jr. A full result isn’t available yet but Sombra won by DQ to hold on to the title.

Having retained the strap, there seems to be a big chance now that Sombra vs. Nakamura on the big 7/20 Akita show will become a title match with Shinsuke having the chance to regain the title from the CMLL star who took it from him at the end of May.

UPDATE #1: Full result (no match times given): La Sombra beat Volador Jr. by 2-1 (1st defense). Sombra used a Dragon Rana on Volador. Volador used a Spanish Fly on Sombra. Volador was DQ’d.

UPDATE #2: Sombra vs. Nakamura is now confirmed as Sombra’s V2 defense of the IWGP Intercontinental Title!
