- Kazuyuki Fujita vs. Tadao Yasuda is almost a lock for UFO's 8/8 Tokyo Dome show, which could be a bigger flop than all of UFO's past shows combined, unless they add one or two huge matches in the next day or so. Fujita is displeased that Naoya Ogawa will be in the main event, feeling he should.

"When did that show air?"

"When was that show taped?"

"What was on that show?"

Now you can find out! I sound like one of those post-midnight ad guys, but I have added a new feature to SSS that may be helpful to New Japan completists and just people who occasionally get the shows. I've added every airdate/tape date of New Japan's "World Pro Wrestling Complete Edition" on BS-Asahi (airdates are BS-A, not Samurai! like what Highspots gets) going back to it's debut in late 2002. Look on the left panel and you'll see "TV Guide" near the top. If not, you need to reload. Still not there? Don't ask me, but click here.

G1 Climax kicks off tomorrow, the biggest tour of the year in Japan. I'll have real-time results from the same source as the Z1 ones, so hopefully these won't be as slow and sketchy (I doubt it because this is being shown live on PPV). But as always, keep your eyes on the main page, as the link will appear.

BJW lineups

02/08/2002
Big Japan announced full lineups for it's "WORLD EXTREME CUP 2002" series. Click the link above to see full lineups, as it's a big and progressive tour, one of their strongest lately. Winger returns, replacing Tower of Doom (who had child porn on his computer and was caught, so is kind of in trouble) in the WEC. Here are some of the main lineups.

Huge information out of New Japan today. Lets start at Budokan, as a bizarre lineup for the 8/29 "CROSS ROAD" show was announced. Kazuyuki Fujita promised an MMA-themed show, while Chono kept quiet, but in the end it's turned into a junior-themed show, with juniors from no less than five promotions on the card, with the much acclaimed New Japan vs. NOAH feud continuing. Liger & Tanaka defend the IWGP Jr. Tag Title against the duo they defeated on 4/7 in NOAH, Kikuchi & Kanemaru. One of my personal favourite juniors, Ikuto Hidaka (freelancer, regular in Michinoku Pro, representing them here) makes his first ever appearance in New Japan, teaming with the returning Curry Man. No Nagata (who was at the press conference), Nakanishi, Nishimura, Tanahashi, Yoshie, Suzuki, Koshinaka, Tenzan or Chono booked at this point, fueling rumours they'll show up on the same day NOAH show. I'd expect another heavyweight match though, maybe IWGP Tag Title. The "much anticipated" Silva vs. Singh match will take place, while the latest dojo phenom, one of the new arrivals and a guy being heavily touted, and hence put out quicker than other rookies, Shinsuke Nakamura (pictured above with Nagata), debuts against Tadao Yasuda. Nakamura idolizes Yuji Nagata and wants to be like him, but is keeping his finishing move a secret. 22-year-old Nakamura has an incredible amateur background, much like another rookie, Toru Yano. Match order of the Budokan show remains undetermined, but looks like a tremendous show at this point.

- You knew it would happen one day, and it has now. Shinya Hashimoto has challenged Naoya Ogawa to another match in their near-legendary series. Hashimoto still only has one win over Ogawa and numerous defeats, including the one that made him temporarily retire in 2000. The two became friends earlier this year, but with Hashimoto forming a new OH Gun, the rivalry is sparking again.
