Koji is god, and in my all-time top 10. I don't understand how anyone could think he's past his prime, when 2005 was such a groundbreaking year for him.

Way overrated. I don't see the big deal about him because he can be as bad as SUWAMA is now.

Generally speaking, he's not really someone I go out of my way to watch, though whenever I do make the effort to watch him entertains me. On his own he doesn't really inspire me, but I'm always more than happy to watch him when he's in the ring with other wrestlers I like. I guess that's a "hit and miss" vote.

I like the guy. He's entertaining but I would expect more effort from him if he is ever going back to being one of the top main eventers of All Japan.

Kojima from 2000-2004 was awesome, then he got the title and it's all been down hill from there. Not that his title run was completely awful, but a lot of those matches were lariat excess of the highest order even more so than anything he had previously done.

He is very hit or miss these days , but I like him , and I think I might be the only one who loved him in VDM , VDM Kojima was kickass(even if his moveset basically stayed the same , except for those sucking chair attacks , that really pissed me off).

Kojima peaked before he got his big push, I think. He was very watchable as the lariat-crazy young punk who could sometimes surprise the big guys like Hashimoto and Chono in the late 90s. He was decent in the tag team with Tenzan. When Koji stopped being good was when he tried to get "serious" and be more "ace-like" in All Japan. Without his audience banter and charm he's pretty exposed as a derivative, not-too-smart wrestler. Kojima with the Triple Crown was boring, Kojima vs. Tenzan for all the belts was boring, Kojima the Voodoo Heel was boring.

Outside of "Shitty Elbow Exchangefest 2008" (or as some would call it, Tanahashi vs. Kojima) he had a pretty good G1 because he was being himself again. I guess I'll vote "hit or miss."

Incredibly hit or miss. When he hits, it's very hard. When he misses, it's Scott Steiner in WWE embarassing.

He had an excellent Carnival match with Kea this year, but that's about it.

Regardless of the subjectivity involved in opinion, you could point to the fact that pretty much nobody in the press even cared that he unified the IWGP and Triple Crown, and his feud with Tenzan did shit business. The only good match I saw in his whole Triple Crown reign was when he won the title from Kawada, and that was in spite of his efforts to fuck up a great Kawada one-man show. In any case, I wasn't the only one who thought it was so, to say the least.

He'd be fine if he didn't abuse all his other finishers and then keep using the Lariat. I remember the Dome match between him and Tenzan in 2005 and he did three Koji Cutters in the first minute.

A chop isn't a finishing move unless you happen to be Rikidozan.

The Koji Cutter is (or a secondary finisher).

Yeah but when he blows off the CCD (which is meant to be a finisher IIRC) and does EVEN MORE lariats, it's EVEN worse.

Yeah, he seems to have a great sense of humor. A match that stands out to me was one at the G1 climax where he teamed with Milano against Ishii and Iikuza. Not only did he have his own invisible dog, but he flexed his pecs in rhythm with the "Ko-Ji-Ma!" chants.

I personally dont like him because he reminds me too much of a John Cena type of wrestler who I hate, only thing is that Kojima is still fun to watch just gets boring at times though

I like Kojima since I saw him live in ROH back in the days.

I agree. Kojima isn't like Cena. Has Kojima had a match as good as Cena/Show in 2009? No.

Charisma is how a wrestler gets over in the first place that was sort stupid to say. Having a big moveset doesn't make a good wrestler either.

I like Koji. Despite him having....a lot of questionable outings....his good matches make up for the bad and he is just to god damn much fun to pass up watching a lot of times. But his overuse of the few moves he has can be frustrating. I did love Nakamura/Koji 60 min draw for some reason.

I don't fast-forward his matches (like I do with the majority of All Japan's undercard, for example), but I can't say I like the guy.

He peaked many, many moons ago (before he even won the freakin' Triple Crown), and his lariat is rather lame ... but not quite Masao Inoue lame. :/

I like Kojima. He's one of my favourite Japanese wrestlers. I know I may very well be in the minority, but I liked his Triple Crown reign, and when he brings in the goods (like at last year's G1) the guy is really great. Even in undercard matches, his charisma always helps get the match a bit more interesting.

I think Kojima is past prime but only just. For me i didnt like him from 2000-2004, but i loved him as TC Champ, he was in the groove there and then in 2008 apart from him and Tenzan winning the G1 and WSTL he had a slow year

Kojima is very intertaining, depending on how hard he feels like working as weel as his opponent's willingness to bust his ass. And yes he may have past his prime, but there have been dozens of people past there primes still able to turn it up for good matches and draw money. So yes hes lost a step but he still entertains me more than not.

I like Kojima & the fact that he switches up his attire from time to time unlike alot of wrestlers do. And his in-ring style is somewhat unique.
But in my opinion he's big fish in a small pond, it's not like All-Japan/Zen-Nihon has the deepest roster. And that point stood out most especially during his TC run and where Kojima messed up with that was when like an earlier poster said stopped being himself. He got away from what made him entertaining & at times i felt like i was watching Nikita Koloff in the ring. But if the roster was any deeper a scrub like TARU wouldn't be anywhere near a title shot. Things are looking up with Kono back around & if Negai is still interested in Wrestling that would make another interesting match. I wish Muto wasn't so cheap sometimes because there's plenty of FA talent out there (El Samurai, Masayuki Naruse, Murakami etc.).

Back on topic, if anyone is going to beat Takayama for the titles i think it'll be Koji.

BTW i don't remember the last time i've seen the CCD or the Koji MAX Hold. LoL

I like Kojima as a wrestler and he can have his great moments in the ring, but really though I see he better as a tag team wrestler.

Which brings me to Kojima and Tenzan, I believe once they are both 100%, needs to step up their game and come out and prove that just like in the 90's that they are just as dominant as before. Especially right now when where we have the possibilities of Wild Child, Bernard/Anderson, Team 3D, and a few others from other promotions.
