2009 Crossover Tour (6/21/09 - 7/5/09)

Postby Eivion Thanatos » Sun Jun 21, 2009 5:18 pm

Today’s return to Korakuen Hall opened with a 10 bell salute to former All Japan president and ace, Mitsuharu Misawa’s who’s untimely death has rocked the wrestling scene to it’s core. Standing in the ring were President Muto, Kyohei Wada, and Masanobu Fuchi, while the entire lockerroom surrounded the ring to pay their respects to the legendary figure.

The semi-final saw more respect paid to Misawa, as Muto immediately nailed Taiyo Kea with an Emerald Frosion, garnering a great reaction from the fans. Kea would get his revenge as well, pulling out the Tiger Driver on Muto. Also, Suwama took the win in the match, pinning Triple Crown champion, Yoshihiro Takayama with a German Suplex, sending a direct message to the champion, and this should advertise Suwama’s impending title challenge now more then ever.

The main event was filled with warmth and encouragement as Nobutaka Araya attempted to seal his midcard comedy character in an attempt to knock down Satoshi Kojima in a singles bout! Araya did bust out his moonsault and had help from Keiji Muto and ring attendants, but it wasn’t enough and Kojima finished him off with the Western lariat.

MAZADA sent a message to Jr. Champion, Kaz Hayashi today by picking up the pinfall in their tag match with a vertical-drop Shoda Drop, crushing Phil Atlas. This put Kaz on notice, as with the opening of his new bar, admittedly underestimated MAZADA, and stated that from now until 7/5 (which is when their fight for the Jr. Title takes place) he was into the “MAZADA mode”.

To also shed light on the “Voodoo Towers EXPLODE” ordeal. The two fell out after being unable to capture the World Tag Team Titles, but today, TARU called and end to the split and demanded the two reform their team and focus on making VM the number one evil heel legion, which they did.

After the young man tag match (which was FILLED with more hate), All Japan announced this year’s Junior League which will take place from 7/26 to 8/7 in the “SUMMER ACTION SERIES”. 10 participants in all, which are as follows.

- Kaz Hayashi, Shuji Kondo, KAI, Hiroshi Yamato, NOSAWA Rongai, MAZADA, Minoru, Toshizo, Petey Williams, and Super Crazy!

It looks like they're pushing a KAI/Soya singles match, which should be awesome. I hope one of these teams ends up winning the All Asia belts to further heat up the feud.

Pretty sure Soya and Sanada will be All Asia tag champs by the end of the year.

Show looks good going of the sportsnavi pics.

Pretty sure Voodoo Towers will takes the tag belts at the Sumo Hall show.

Mutoh should use the Emerald Frosion regularly.

I wonder how Suwama vs Takayama would work out? I really can't see Suwama taking the belt back so soon.

Its going to be a battle of german suplexes so the match could go either way in that it could be brilliant or terrible, It could be good just as long as it doesnt turn into a 60 minute 'epic' like Kea/Suwama

This little Soya/Sanada vs KAI/Yamato 'feud' is good. All four a great talents and the last match i saw was when Soya ended it and KAI walked off from the handshake

That picture with the side thrust kick to the face just screams to me "This is why I love pro wres.!!" :o

Those four young guys, along with T28 are going to really make All Japan a joy to watch when they are given true upper card status. :)

Glad to see Sanada & Soya get the win today, wee bit surprised though.

I don't see Kono getting a title shot till next summer at least.  There's too many guys ahead of him and with tournaments in the way it would take at least a year.

6 & 7 both could have been shorter. Very surprised Sanada and Soya actually beat Voodoo Towers. I figured everything was building them up for an All Asia tag title match (still think its the plan to be honest). I'm guessing a no. 1 contenders match happens next tour, winner getting a title shot at Gurentai.

I think any Kaz match going over 20 is annoying to be frank. I really wish junior singles would stop trying to go 25+. They don't know how to fill the time that well and always go into annoying overkill towards the end.

Lineups are up on Purolove for the Jr League.

Petey Williams returns and Super Crazy is going to be in it.....I will be marking big time for CRAZY!

EDIT: Takayama vs Suwama...I predict Takayama winning. For some reason i think Takayama will have another defence before losing the belt

Also loving Keiji Mutoh & Funaki vs. Chono & MinoZuki...I really want to see that when it's shown
