Watched Okada vs Anderson from KOPW. Wow.
My favourite things to come out of this match:
- I love how Okada's dropkick is now a major spot in his matches. The announcer hilariously creamed himself/lost his voice after both dropkicks (one to the face and one to the back of the head) during the climax. It's unique to see such a simple fundamental move being given such reverence again.
- Okada still doing that thing where he hits a move and just sits there with that bored/don't give a crap look. Awesome way to disrespect your opponent.
- The WWE-esque attempts at stealing each other's finishers at the death. It wasn't cheesy or gimmicky since this is a rare occurence in puroresu (as far as I know), and it was pulled off so slickly.
I hope these two fight over the IWGP heavyweight championship for years to come. They will find ways to keep each encounter fresh, they are that good.
