    Notes:

Kido was initiated into the old JWA in October, 1968, and debuted in February, 1969, at Tokyo Korakuen Hall. Along with Antonio Inoki and Tatsumi Fujinami, he left JWA in March, 1972, to form New Japan Pro-Wrestling. In June, 1975, he left on an overseas learning excursion, where he was taught some masterful techniques by one of the Strong Style originators, Karl Gotch. Although he was a gifted technical wrestler, he struggled to move up the card, so in 1985 jumped to Akira Maeda's UWF. However, it collapsed in December of 1985, and he returned to New Japan as part of Maeda's invading UWF unit. Together with Maeda in 1986, he won the IWGP Tag Team Title from the legendary Fujinami & Kengo Kimura team, only to drop the belts to the same team the following month. Throughout the 1990's, with age catching up to him, his role lessened, but in August, 2000, he was given one last big chance, gaining entry to the G1 Climax. On 11/2/01 at Yokohama Bunka Gymnasium, his career came to an end when he and Riki Choshu wrestled Fujinami & Kimura to a 10 minute draw. From then on he became a trainer in New Japan's dojo, training future superstars. Although he was never a main event singles star, Osamu Kido was one of New Japan's greatest technicians and involved in some memorable matches.
