Trained in the WCW Powerplant, the same school as fellow New Japan gaijin, Rob Rage, but released from WCW after graduating from the school, due to roster cuts ... Actually worked a New Japan tour in early 2000, gaining experience with other young WCW wrestlers ... Spent much of his early career on the U.S. independent circuit, developing a hybrid shoot/pro style, before being spotted by New Japan talent scouts during Kensuke Sasaki's excursion to America ... Re-debuted for New Japan on the "SURVIVAL 2001" tour, teaming with Osamu Nishimura to defeat the Team 2000 tandem of Super J & Tatsutoshi Goto ... Scored a huge upset submission win over Hiroyoshi Tenzan in only his second New Japan match, while teaming with Yuji Nagata ... Taken on by Sasaki as his new disciple for the rest of the tour, the two gaining big wins over Tenzan & Goto, Manabu Nakanishi & Kenzo Suzuki, Satoshi Kojima & AKIRA, and Scott Norton & Super J ...
